Rick Seibel is a partner at DBH Law at Calgary.

Rick Seibel is a Partner based in Calgary, Alberta, with over nine years of experience advising businesses, entrepreneurs, and private clients across corporate law, tax, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate. Pragmatic and client-focused, he combines deep technical knowledge with a genuine commitment to aligning legal strategies with real-world commercial objectives.

Rick’s corporate and commercial practice centres on helping businesses navigate their most critical decisions — from formation and governance through to complex transactional work. He regularly advises on corporate structuring, shareholder agreements, asset and share purchase transactions, and commercial contracts. In his M&A practice, he guides buyers, sellers, and investors through every stage of the deal lifecycle, from due diligence and negotiation to closing, and is valued for his attention to detail and ability to manage risk without losing sight of the broader commercial picture.

Tax planning and compliance form a cornerstone of Rick’s practice. He advises on tax-efficient structures for business operations, acquisitions, and reorganisations, working closely with accountants and financial advisers to deliver integrated solutions. His completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course in 2023 reflects his commitment to the highest level of technical proficiency in this area, and his tax expertise is particularly valued by owner-managed businesses seeking to optimise their structures while remaining fully compliant with Canadian legislation.

Rick also maintains an active real estate practice, assisting clients with commercial and residential transactions, development projects, and leasing matters. His ability to draw on his corporate and tax knowledge in real estate deals gives clients a holistic perspective that is especially valuable when transactions involve complex financing or ownership structures.

Before joining DBH Law, Rick served as an Associate at a mid-sized firm in Calgary from 2020 to 2026, honing his skills in corporate and commercial matters. Prior to that, he articled and practiced as an Associate at a Calgary-area firm from 2017 to 2020, gaining broad experience across business law.

Rick earned his Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2017 and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary (2013). His ongoing professional development underscores his belief that outstanding legal counsel demands continuous learning and a willingness to stay at the forefront of evolving legislation.

Outside the office, Rick enjoys golfing when the Alberta weather permits and spending quality time with family and friends.
